This tape measure is housed in a stitched seemed leather case. There is a brass central winding mechanism that neatly clips into a central hole when not in use. The leather casing embossed with 'Chesterman's Patent Sheffield' on both sides. The tape is fitted with a brass ring pull fixed to the start of the tape, this allows for the tape to be fixed for long distant measuring. Typically the measurement commences from the outside of the ring at the end of the tape, i.e. ring is included in the measurement. The measurements on the tape are marked in increments of inches and feet on the front side and in pole measurements on the reverse side.
