"The Whistling Coon"  Referring to the first African American phonograph recording by George W Johnson. October 1846 – January 23, 1914 he was an American singer and pioneer sound recording artist.  His most popular song being the "Whistling Coon" of 1891.

Here we have an impressive large scale rare terracotta figure made by the 'Watcombe Pottery Co' St Mary Church - South Devon.  This is exquisite work with very good detail and patina.  At some point suffered damaged to his neck although you would struggle to see it unless pointed out. Otherwise in lovely condition.

A lovely piece of advertising memorabilia.
