A delightful 19th century Scottish dark mahogany eight-day longcase clock by George Lumsden - Pittenweem. Two train movement has an anchor escapement, striking on a bell, with a seconds and date dial. Fully serviced and all in good working order.
George Lumsden emigrated to Australia in July 1853. The Lumsden family, allegedly were aboard the ship "Ravenscraig", arriving in Victoria, Australia. After spending several years there he emigrated to the City of Invercargill, New Zealand around 1861. He became Mayor of Invercargill in 1873–1874 and again in 1878–1879, before resuming work at his jewellery, clock and watch making business.
